Traditional German Schnitzel in the heart of St GeorgWhen planning our trip to Hamburg, the quest for best schnitzel was high on our list of activities. As there was only so many meals we could squeeze in in one trip, we checked out TripAdvisor. With over 40 schnitzel reviews, Frau Möller (or Mrs Möller) just had to be done. Named after the owner's female dog (amazing) the pub boasts traditional home cooked Hamburg dishes in a casual setting.
LocationThe walk is about 2km and as we began to get hangry, the sight of any restaurant was looking appealing. But our mission to find the best schnitzel was still in our vision and we kept walking until we found Frau Moller. We were so glad we did. The sun was shining so the pub's outside seating was especially busy, but we managed to find a table on the street. Even though it was busy, the waitress greeted us quickly. The restaurant's location, on the corner of a cross junction, was just ideal for a sunny lunch time spot. We sipped our beers and watched the world pass by...
MenuThe menu was in German, but the waitress spoke English and asked if we fancied anything in particular. With her help, we ordered the only two schnitzels on the menu! From the specials menu Ben ordered the 'Original Wiener Kalbsshnitzel mit Pommes & Salat' or Veal Schnitzel with french fries & Salad at €14.90. I ordered the 'Bratkartoffeln mit Speck & Zwiebeln, mit Schnitzel' or the Fried Potatoes with Bacon & Onions with Pork Schnitzel at €8.90. Plus two large Duckstein's to wash them down with.
On the pricer side for lunch, but worth it for the tender schnitzel and lovely location.
